Instrumental Teachers and Primary School Students, join the new WestPhil

Accelerator Programme

With assistance from a City of Parramatta Capacity Building Grant, in partnership with host, Western Sydney University, the Music Teachers' Association of NSW, and River City Voices.

We are thrilled to launch our Accelerator Programme at the start of Term 3 2024 academic year!

Students

  • Primary School students from the 63 primary schools in the Parramatta LGA

  • The target for participating students is two Primary School age groups;

    • 6-7 year olds (Years 1-2) and

    • 8-12 year olds (Years 4–7).

Students will receive:

  • Weekly private instrumental tuition with one of our WestPhil Affiliate instrumental teachers and the possibility of subsidised lessons

  • Coaching by top Australian performers and pedagogues through a weekly group ensemble, choral, and musicianship class

  • Involvement in WestPhil performances each year alongside world-famous performers (our first concert will be our June 2024 Gala with pianist, Alexander Gavrylyuk and conductor, Fabian Russell)

  • Possibility of donated instruments

Students will be selected by WestPhil and MTANSW advisors through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process, and places are limited for Term 3 2024. So if you're a parent of a child/ren who fits our criteria, don't hesitate to register your EOI below.

Background

How can WestPhil support and inspire young musicians in primary school to boost their skills and performance practice? Where can they gain tuition and performance experience to extend their skills and talent? How can WestPhil support music teachers and build a cohort of teachers aligned with the organisation?

This is the focus for the Accelerator Programme, working with and to support teachers and the community, offering a pathway into orchestral music for talented students and musicians in the Parramatta LGA. This program will run alongside the existing WestPhil Artistic programme for 2024.

Please complete the details below and we will be in touch.
