WSP proudly launches the Western Sydney Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra (WPCO) with Horizons – a bold new step in building a vibrant musical ecosystem for Western Sydney.
Led by Artistic Director Peter Clark, this inaugural program unites a group of outstanding young tertiary-level musicians with renowned professional mentors and distinguished soloists. The result is the WPCO – an orchestra sui generis: a unique and perfectly formed ensemble, charged with energy and purpose, and conceived to deliver performances of the highest artistic calibre.
Throughout the program, these young musicians will work intensively with distinguished professional mentors, developing artistry and discipline at the highest level of chamber orchestral performance.
The program will culminate in a public gala concert on 5 October at the Sir Ian & Nancy Turbott Auditorium, where the WPCO will showcase their work alongside performances by WSP’s confirmed soloists in residence for 2026 – pianist Konstantin Shamray and violinist Amalia Hall – as well as the inspiring young players of The Advocates ensemble.
This initiative is more than a concert series – it marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to orchestral training of significance for Western Sydney, with WPCO set to grow in ambition and scope through 2026 and beyond.
We warmly thank Western Sydney University, our host partner, for their vital support in bringing this program to life.
