WSP is thrilled to announce the final chapter of 2025’s flagship program for school-aged musicians, “The Advocates”.
Alongside two celebrated and beloved chamber orchestra works by Mozart and Corelli, we present a movement of Shostakovich’s Fourth String Quartet - arranged especially for “The Advocates”. 2025 marks exactly fifty years since the death of Shostakovich, and this powerful and emotive arrangement will challenge and excite both musicians and audience! We also proudly present Australian composer Rachel Bruerville’s “Dancing on Tiptoes” - a heartfelt and touching piece, composed for the Hush Foundation.
Join us in September as together we celebrate a wonderful year of music-making in Western Sydney, with “The Advocates: Part 3”. Expect Excitement; Embrace the Highest Artistry; Be inspired to become a leading Musical Advocate.
Leading this exciting project is WSP’s brilliant Artistic Director, Peter Clark, joined by Quartet 121 – winners of the prestigious 2025 Sydney Eisteddfod Orvieto Musica Festival Scholarship. Their artistry was recognised internationally during their residency at the celebrated Orvieto Musica Festival in Umbria, Italy.
Across three days of intensive rehearsals, participants will work closely with Peter Clark and Quartet 121, culminating in a public performance at the Sir Ian & Nancy Turbott Auditorium, Western Sydney University.
The carefully curated program highlights both classical masterpieces and contemporary voices.
This program not only challenges and inspires participants musically but also develops ensemble skills, artistic confidence, and advocacy for music in the community.
Special Gala Opportunity
While participation is not compulsory, any available members of The Advocates: Part 3 will have the unique chance to take part in the Horizons Gala Concert on 5 October, 2-3:30pm at the Sir Ian & Nancy Turbott Auditorium.
This extraordinary event will see The Advocates showcase their achievements in a gala setting before WSP supporters, performing alongside confirmed WSP Soloists for 2026 – internationally renowned violinist Amalia Hall and virtuoso pianist Konstantin Shamray – together with the WestPhil Chamber Orchestra.
It promises to be an unforgettable highlight of the season, offering our young musicians the thrill of sharing the stage in one of Western Sydney’s most exciting new cultural moments.
