WestPhil proudly launches the WestPhil Chamber Orchestra (WPCO) with Horizons: The Inaugural WestPhil Chamber Orchestra Program – a bold new step in building a vibrant musical ecosystem for Western Sydney.
Led by Artistic Director Peter Clark, this first program brings together 17 outstanding tertiary-level musicians who will form the nucleus of WestPhil’s flagship ensemble alongside renowned professional mentors. Thanks to the generous support of our donors and community partners, each musician selected for Horizons has been awarded a participation scholarship, enabling them to commit fully to this exceptional training and performance experience. As part of the program, they will work intensively alongside distinguished professional mentors and acclaimed violin soloist Amalia Hall, gaining invaluable insights into the artistry and discipline of chamber orchestral performance.
For this inaugural season, WPCO presents an exhilarating program: Holly Harrison’s rhythmically vibrant Stomp and Slide, Mozart’s monumental Jupiter Symphony, and Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto in E minor with Amalia Hall.
This initiative is more than a concert series – it marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to orchestral training of significance for Western Sydney, with WPCO set to grow in ambition and scope through 2026 and beyond.
We warmly thank Western Sydney University, our host partner, for their vital support in bringing this program to life.
